Eric K. Laumann - Biography
- Eric K. Laumann is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the consulting firm Laumann Strategies LLC, located in the Dallas Fort Worth, Texas metroplex. Eric provides bespoke expert regulatory and risk arbitrage related strategic advice to institutional investors and to merger and acquisition related actors including investment bankers, corporate executives, lawyers, proxy solicitors, etc. Eric has more than 22 years of professional experience in event arbitrage related services and before that more than 10 years of professional experience with complex multi-billion-dollar civil and criminal litigation matters, including antitrust, bankruptcy, class actions, commercial tort and contract, corporate and indenture trustee fiduciary duty, distressed debt, foreign law, intellectual property licensing, international arbitration, oil and gas royalties, patent, products liability, trusts and estates, and securities matters.
- Prior to founding Laumann Strategies LLC, Eric was the Head of North American Risk Arbitrage Research at Oscar Gruss & Son, the Head of Risk Arbitrage at KCG, a risk arbitrage co-portfolio manager at Millenium Partners, a Managing Director and Head of the North American Risk Arbitrage Desk at Credit Suisse, a Managing Director Principal on Bear Stearns’s buy-side/sell-side risk arbitrage desk, and a senior analyst on Deephaven Capital Management’s event arbitrage team.
- As a litigator, Eric worked at Weil, Gotshal, & Manges in Silicon Valley, Jenner & Block in Chicago, and Kazowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman and Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. Prior to that, he clerked for Judge Jan E. DuBois of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
- Eric holds an A.B. with high honors in economics from the University of Michigan and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Bar in New York and an inactive member of the Bar in Illinois and California. He was admitted to practice in the U.S District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal and Seventh Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.
